This is a personal list of pet peeves having to do with internet advertising or earning. You may or may not agree... in fact you may have a blog or ad that peeves me. Don't take it personally. I'm not really the Pollyanna that My Quality Day makes me appear to be. In fact, that blog is an exercise to keep me from becoming the sarcastic grouch that I tend to deteriorate into without constant attention. But just for today I am going to allow the grumpiness to ooze into blogland. He we go.
1. Advertising banners that have nothing to do with the content
I am sick and tired of clicking on banners that have lovely pictures of trees, flowers, lakes or critters, only to discover that they lead to blogs about real estate, making money, shopping, or being a good parent. Humph... I don't like bait and switch.
2. Blog posts that give you the first line and then make you click to read the rest of the post
OK, a few of my favorite blogs do this, but it doesn't mean that I have to like it. Does this get you an extra hit? Does this allow you to put more headlines out where people may see something they like? All right, the answers are yes, and yes. But I don't like it anyway. Give me the post, already.
3. Sites that make you sign up before you can see how it works
This one is serious. Any pay to click, or advertising, or any sites that make you sign up with them before you can read the FAQs or other information about how the site works just lose me before we ever start dancing. If you want me to participate, I want to understand what I am getting in to, at least basically, before I'll become a member.

Oh dear...I hope my blog isn't irritating! My entrecard button has a picture of a flower with my blog's name on it..I just thought that the flower was pretty! :)
A Marie- Don't take anything I said personally. I was just venting. The blog name helps a lot... Many banners just are pictures leaving one to completely guess at the content.

Hi JR- Welcome. I'm just trying to learn as I go, and share my experiences along the way.
Eek! One of my blogs falls into your peeve list! I have changed the layout so that the first few lines of a post are shown so that you have to click through to the post. This part of a bid to encourage people to stay on my blog for longer - and I have to say, it really does work. I am still experimenting with it though, so I may reconsider in a couple of months.
I'm not sure it works for all blogs though - I am looking at changing the layout of my gardening/self-sufficiency blog soon and I don't think the same tactic would work the same there.

Thought you stopped recording your earnings because of the decreasing Adgitize earnings :(
Hi Mark- well, you can take my rant for what it was worth, but if I caused you to at least think about why you are choosing a certain layout it's probably good.
Martin- I know, your birdie is cute, but... is it advertising? Nope, I've stopped recording because I'm so busy with things that earn at least a tiny bit more than a few cents a day, and/or family responsibilities that something had to give! Hug that Timmie!
